Church Secretary (29 hours per week)
Church Custodian (up to 20 hours per week)

Job Summary

The job duties of the Secretary are to ensure daily functions within the office are completed in a timely, accurate, and
efficient manner, and to provide responsive, courteous and efficient service to members and visitors.

Qualifications and Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements
listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the
continuation of employment.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business
  • Or (2) years recent related work experience in office management

Equipment Knowledge Required

Ability to operate various types of equipment – standard office equipment, computer and knowledge of
Microsoft Office software. Ability to learn and use current church records management software.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties described below are indicative of what the Secretary might be asked to perform. This is not an
exhaustive list of job responsibilities and therefore other duties may be assigned:

  • Greet and correspond with visitors and members
  •  Assist Pastor(s) as needed
  •  Mail/email/phone
  •  Maintain congregational financial and tithing records
  •  Maintain confidentiality of all church records
  •  Send giving statements
  •  Maintains Calendars/Schedules contractors
  •  Order Supplies
  •  Update and maintain various software systems (Carollons, Robo-calling, etc)
  •  Maintain Bulletins; Dovre/Chetek PowerPoint
  •  Create and distribute Newsletter
  •  Maintain and Update Website
  •  Work with Special events ( Baptismal/Wedding/Funeral/Confirmations)
  •  Set up and maintain Key/Pin Access
  •  Provide office support for Youth Director and Youth programs
  •  Provide assistance to Accountant
  •  Maintain member database/ assist with new Members
  •  Other duties as assigned

The duties of this job include physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, sitting, standing, reaching,
walking, lifting and/or move (up to 10 pounds), grasping, talking, hearing/ listening, seeing/observing, and

and the ability to adjust focus.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties described below are indicative of what the Custodian might be asked to perform. This is not an
exhaustive list of job responsibilities and therefore other duties may be assigned:

  • Clean and sanitize public bathrooms, room fixtures, dusts, mops, vacuums, and sweeps floors.
  •  Replenish bathroom dispensers.
  •  Sweep outside steps/landings.
  •  Clean entrance and office door windows.
  •  Perform custodial duties where assigned.
  •  Move furniture, set up tables and chairs for meetings.
  •  Pick up parts/supplies as needed.
  •  Maintenance on Equipment (Lawn Tractor/walking mower/snow blower etc.)
  •  Snow removal from sidewalks, steps/landings using shovel and snow removal equipment.
  •  Assist with grounds upkeep (lawn mowing, weeding, trimming bushes, etc.)
  •  Shampoo carpets and strips / wax / buff / burnishes floors.
  •  Replace light bulbs.
  •  Maintain candelabras and other altar fixtures
  •  Attend to heating and ventilation systems as needed.
  •  Other duties as needed.
